Beto O’Rourke is the clear ActBlue winner. ActBlue takes in donations and then distributes the money to the different candidates, making it very difficult to know who is actually donating the money. ActBlue gave Beto O’Rourke of Texas $5.3 million. Beto actually received more money through ActBlue than the Democratic Congressional ($4.4 million) and Senatorial ($1.5 million) Campaign Committees and the Democratic National Committee ($1.6 million). That is saying a lot. Of course, imagine the headlines if Beto actually does beat Ted Cruz.
Danny O’Connor of Ohio also picked up $1.2 million from ActBlue, Claire McCaskill from Missouri received $1.1 million and Bill Nelson in Florida received $912 thousand. Other Democrats that picked up a good amount of money from ActBlue were Jacky Rosen in Nevada ($820 thousand), Jared Golden in Maine ($798 thousand), Andrew Janz in California ($778 thousand) and Kyrsten Sinema in Arizona ($648 thousand).
In August and late July, ActBlue distributed $64.5 million. We are still waiting to see where the money went in September. But as we have previously mentioned, Democratic donors give to ActBlue and then ActBlue turns around and distributes the money to the different PACs and Candidates. Effectively creating a very nice firewall. The only way to bridge the gap is to scrap every single PDF. It is a lot of work, but we will get there.
