Democrats and Republicans are neck and neck in spending. Over the last month and change, Republicans have spent 28.7 million and Democrats have spent $28.8 million. Out of the more than 500 candidates/PAC we looked at, 256 Republican PACs spent $29 million and 250 Democratic PACs also spent approx. $29 million.
RGA Right Direction PAC topped the list spending $6 million. RGA stands for Republican Governors Association so you know which way they lean. RGA Right Direction gave $1 million to Kim Reynolds in Iowa and $250 thousand to Kristi Noem in South Dakota. Pretty much the rest was spent on Media.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) spent $3 million over the last month or so. Of that $504 thousand was spent on Salaries. Good to work for the DNC. They also had an almost $850 thousand dollar American Express bill. Who gets all the AMEX points they earn. Tim Kaine in Virginia spent $2.5 million. The majority of course was spent on media, but he also spent $135 thousand on Salaries and another $100 thousand on polling.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) came in third in spending at $2.8 million. The RNC paid $288 thousand to the IRS, $191 thousand on Building Maintenance and then $300 thousand on telemarketing. That is a lot of money for “building Maintenance” and a lot more money spent annoying people with unwanted calls…
