Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took down Crowley with only $179K....

How much money does it take to topple a giant? $179 thousand. That is how much Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised to take down 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley. Over the same time frame, Crowley raised $4.6 million. Ocasio-Cortez raised less than 4% of what Crowley brought in and still beat him. It looks like Ocasio-Cortez only received money from one PAC. Justice Democrats gave her $5,000. Aside from that almost all of her donations appear to be from individuals.

To win Ocasio-Cortez spent $21 thousand for Strategic Consulting, $19 thousand for Facebook Advertising and $13 thousand on Printing. However her biggest expense was payroll at $55 thousand. On the other hand, Crowley spent approx.. $820 thousand on direct mail and digital advertising.

Crowley also received a lot from political and corporate PACs. He received $76.5 thousand from the Votesane PAC, $34 thousand from the Better Days Fund and $24 thousand from Equity Services Inc. Below is a list of some of the corporate PACs that also donated money to Crowley.

Home Depot

Deloitte

Anheuser-Busch

KPMG Employee

Mass Mutual Life Insurance

AETNA

Google Inc, NET

Fedex Corp

General Electric

Boeing

PricewaterhouseCooper

T-Mobile

Now you may or may not agree with Ocasio-Cortez policies, but it nice to see that the underdog can still win and that not everything is decided by how much money is spent.
