We all know that Billionaire George Soros is very active and a big democratic donor. It is always fun to see where he is giving his money. We looked back to the beginning of this year and found a number of different PACs he is supporting. My question how does he decide on the amounts he donates. Let’s put this into perspective. George Soros has an estimated net worth of $8 billion, this is compared to the median middle-class net worth of $44,900. So when George gives $1 million that is basically the equivalent of a middle-class American donating $6.
We do not begrudge Soros’ wealth at all. However, when giving a million dollars is basically the same as a normal person buying a McDonalds lunch, does the PAC that only gets a little feel slighted? Soros donated $56,000 to Women Vote! this year. That equates to a 30 cents donation from the middle class. Are the people running Women Vote! thinking “oh thanks George, you could not spare a little bit more…” All joking aside it is his money and he can do what he wants with it.
However, the Women Vote! PAC should be a little disappointed. This year George has given $3 million to Win Justice and another $2 million to Priorities USA Action. His son Alexander also gave $2 million to the Senate Majority PAC (SMP). United for Progress and American Bridge 21st Century also received quite a bit more money that Women Vote! from George. Maybe they will get more next time.
